SAMARITAN'S PURSE Samaritan’s Purse, (www.samaritanspurse.org) is a Christian relief organization based in Boone, NC. For over 35 years, we have done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering providing desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. After the Haiti earthquake on January 12, our first physician arrived on the ground January 13th. As the surgical needs have slowly decreased, our team is now requesting physical therapists to help get the myriad of injured back on their feet. Interested therapists can contact me to obtain a volunteer application for short-term opportunities. Short-term financial assistance is available.
SHORT-TERM TEACHING OPPORTUNITY Looking for a PT with an orthopedic background or a bent towards gait training issues to teach a workshop to physical therapy staff in the Dominican Republic Fluency in Spanish a huge plus though not required. The Associacion Dominicana de Rehabilitacion just celebrated it’s 46th year in the capital and has 19 branches around the country, staffed mostly by folks with a few months of hands on training. Many of the staff are studying at a university program in the capital to become licensed but not all are putting their new found knowledge into practice due in part to limited practical time in the coursework.

The person or persons who would take on this calling would be based in the U.S.A., be accepted by the ABWE mission as a missionary candidate, raise support among Bible Believing Churches and minister in countries like Bangladesh, Peru, Liberia, Romania and Togo, West Africa. Some of these areas have PT clinics already in place or about to be established. Others would be with International Medical Mission Teams. The ultimate goal of this ministry is to establish churches which have a purpose of reaching people with disabilities for Christ.
